If you would like to volunteer for a project click here.
The Impact Project Leader will contact you with more information and confirmation of your registration. All Impact Volunteers will be required to sign a release liability form and wear an Impact T-shirt. You can download the Release Liability Form here, print it and bring it into First Melissa before August 10, 2008.

Unless otherwise specified, all Impact Volunteers meet at First Melissa, 2600 State Highway 121, at 7:30 a.m., August 11 – 16 before traveling to the project site. Most projects end by 2:30 p.m.

     **From now until the Expo on August 16th, First Melissa is taking donations of 15 oz. Cans of Fruit that will be donated to the Community Food Pantry of McKinney.

     **Also, join us on Monday, August 11th at Ben & Jerry's in McKinney from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm for a fundraiser also benefitting the Community Food Pantry of McKinney




Impact Week 2008 Projects:

Card & Gift Making (Melissa, TX) – First Melissa Ministry Partners will glorify God in the community by creating thank you gifts for Ministry Partners and teachers, and making cards for nursing home residents. You and your family can make a huge difference in someone's life by making a card or thank you gift to encourage someone else. Let others know that God loves and cares about them.
     Dates: August 11 - 15

Anna Home Repair & Painting (Anna, TX) – First Melissa Ministry Partners will glorify God in the community by meeting the physical needs of an Anna Resident. Ministry Partners will repair siding, exterior trim, shingles, and an interior floor. They will also paint the exterior of the residence and adjacent storage structures. Landscaping will also be installed as well. If you or your family like to paint, landscape, perform general home repair or working with the elderly this is where you want to be!
     Dates: Tuesday, August 12 & Wednesday, August 13

McKinney ISD School Preparation (McKinney, TX) – First Melissa Ministry Partners will glorify God in the community by helping McKinney ISD prepare for the upcoming school year. Ministry Partners will help with cleaning, book moving, and other prep work as needed. If you or your family would like to equip those who are influencing our future this is the place for you.
     Dates: Monday, August 11 & Tuesday, August 12
     Time: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

Private Property Debris Removal – First Melissa Ministry Partners will glorify God at a private residence by removing a large pile of debris from the property. Believers will move the debris by hand to a large trash bin that will be placed on the property.
     Dates: Wednesday, August 13 & Thursday, August 14
     Skills/Interests: Willing heart, Teamworker, Outdoors, and Friendliness

Melissa ISD School Preparation (Melissa, TX) – First Melissa Ministry Partners will glorify God in the community by helping Melissa ISD prepare for the upcoming school year in the new elementary school. Ministry Partners will help with cleaning, moving books & furniture, and other prep work as needed. Melissa ISD Luncheon (Melissa, TX) – First Melissa Ministry Partners will glorify God by preparing a lunch for the Melissa ISD staff during their employee in-service days. Ministry Partners will prepare and serve lunch to show the Melissa ISD staff that God loves and cares about them.

Mission Church Construction (McKinney, TX) – First Melissa Ministry Partners will glorify God by completing work on a Spanish-language mission church located in McKinney. Ministry Partners will help with painting, minor construction, and meeting other needs at the project site. If you or your family would like to work on a project that allows you to leave a mark and have a potentially profound impact on many people for years to come, you will have that chance when working at this project.

Mow-A-City (Various) – First Melissa Ministry Partners will glorify God in the community by mowing yards and residential lots for free. This simple ministry opens the door to showing and sharing God's love with individuals in a tangible way.

Cemetery Clean-up, (McKinney, TX) – First Melissa Ministry Partners will glorify God by mowing and cleaning a cemetery. Ministry Partners will also be constructing a shed as well. If you have an interest in history and preserving it, then this is the project for you.
     Dates: Friday, August 15 & Saturday, August 16

Painting Fire Hydrants, (Anna, TX) – First Melissa Ministry Partners will glorify God by painting fire hydrants in the older part of Anna. If you or your family would like to paint and move around this is your opportunity to leave a mark that will last for years to come.

Project Linus, (Melissa, TX) – First Melissa Ministry Partners will glorify God by partnering with Project Linus. Project Linus provides handmade blankets to children who are ill, traumatized, or suffering. If you or your family like to quilt, sew, or crochet blankets or afghans this is the project for you.
     Dates: Thursday, August 14 & Saturday, August 16
     Skills/Interests: Willing heart, Friendliness, Sewing, Quilting and Crochet

Robert Muellar School (Fairview, TX) – First Melissa Ministry Partners will glorify God at a private school in Fairview. This is an extraordinary opportunity to show and share God's love to a group of families. First Melissa will build and paint a fence, refurbish a playhouse, build picnic tables, and build two sandboxes.

City of Anna Softball Fields (Anna, TX) – First Melissa Ministry Partners will glorify God in the community by refurbishing a local park in the City of Anna. They will be painting and repairing bleachers and outdoor furniture. If you or your family like to paint, do woodworking, or wish to glorify God in the City of Anna this is the project for you!

Weenie Roast! (McKinney ∓ Princeton, TX) – First Melissa Ministry Partners will glorify God by offering free drinks, hotdogs, and hamburgers to park goers at Towne Lake in McKinney and Tickey Park in Princeton. If you or your family like to grill, share God's Word, or carry food this the chance to change a life.
     Dates: Sunday, August 10 (3:30 pm to 8:00 pm) and Friday, August 15 (4:00 pm to 8:00 pm)

Blue Ridge Residences (Blue Ridge, TX) – First Melissa Minitry Partners will glorify God in the community by meeting the physical needs of two Blue Ridge residents. Ministry Partners will do minor repairs and paint the exterior of one house and paint the interior of the another house.

Lunch Wagon (Multiple Cities) – First Melissa Minitry Partners will glorify God in the community by traveling to various project sites and cities to deliver lunches and water to the volunteers. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required.

Car Show & Expo Team (Melissa, TX) – First Melissa Minitry Partners will glorify God in the community by helping with many service opportunities at the ‘Taking It to The Streets Community Expo’ on Saturday, August 16. Volunteers may help with set-up, parking, bounce houses, clean-up, greeting, car show, and more. If you are interested in helping, please specify areas of service that interest you.
     Dates: Friday, August 15 (5:30 pm - 10:00 pm) & Saturday, August 16 (2:30 pm to 10:30 pm)

A lot of coolers will be needed during Impact Week - if you have one that you are willing to let us use for the week, please drop them off at the church on Sunday, August 10.
